Sprouts and Caterpillar updates
I haven't been good about showing how our sprouts have been doing. And some are now actually planted in the ground!! We started our seeds back on March 25th. Here are some pictures of how they were by April 3rd. It is seriously soooo exciting to see the spouts emerge and then begin growing their leaves and taking their forms!
Our tomatoes were quick, but especially the the beans!! I love how you can still see the coat hanging off the bean sprout!! That was in 9 days time.
< This picture shows how they were today!! (click to enlarge!)
And this is the girls planting the beans with Craig!!
Our caterpillars had come on April 24th. This is them at 1 week old, on May 1st, huge!! They were already starting their silk when I took these pictures. On Sunday, May 2nd I saw them still as caterpillars starting to attach themselves to the top of their cup. On Monday, the 3rd, they had already shed their skin and were in their chrysallis stage! It was amazing! It happened so fast! We found their skins and we found two caterpillars that didn't make it. One of the chrysalises fell on the bottom, I really hope it survives!
So today we put their nursery together and then put them inside. We made some butterflies out of wool to decorate their nursery, but then decided to hang them on our nature table tree and put the nursery next to the tree. We are soooooooo excited to see our butterflies emerge!!

This is just a lovely post all around, Suzy.
We were surprised at how fast our caterpillars grew last spring, too. They turned into beautiful butterflies, and it was quite magical to see the whole process and then let them out into our yard after watching them.
Happy Mother's Day, Suzy!
Oh! I wanted to say I love the little drawings on the cards with the sprouts. Very cute! :)
