Our Advent Wreath

We started our week by making an Advent wreath. Advent is the period of waiting and preparing for the coming of the celebration of the Nativity. Many Christian religions celebrate Advent the four Sundays prior to Christmas by making a wreath and lighting a candle each week. On Christmas Eve, a fifth candle in the middle is lit.

After our morning walk, we clipped some branches from our pine tree in our front yard. We arranged the pieces into our wire frame and decorated with bows and some pine cones that look like roses. We were excited to light our first candle!
